Ajay Sharma
Mathematics Tutor
Ajay is a UC Berkeley Statistics and Applied Mathematics graduate with more than seven years of experience helping students understand challenging concepts with clarity, structure, and confidence. His teaching combines conceptual explanation, structured practice, and focused preparation to help students build stronger problem-solving skills and greater academic confidence.
Teaching Approach
Ajay emphasizes mathematical reasoning before mechanical repetition. Students learn to connect procedures to underlying concepts, identify patterns in their own errors, and approach unfamiliar problems with greater speed, precision, and independence.
With more than seven years of teaching, Ajay has worked with students in mathematics, AP subjects, SAT preparation, computer science, and chess. He has coached multiple students who earned scores of 5 on AP Statistics, AP Calculus BC, and AP Computer Science A, and currently teaches at BASIS Independent.
Background / Education
Ajay took a nontraditional route to his dream school, UC Berkeley. His journey strengthened his perseverance, self-belief, and appreciation for each student's individual educational path.
After earning admission across the University of California system, Ajay graduated from UC Berkeley with a double major in Statistics and Applied Mathematics. He also conducted research in computational machine learning and statistical learning theory, bringing analytical depth to both advanced mathematics instruction and practical test preparation.
